ARTICLE 4: DAY 1 - FIRST DAY IN THE LABORATORY
My first day of work immersion marked the beginning of a new and unfamiliar experience as I was assigned to the laboratory department. At first, I felt nervous and overwhelmed because everything was unfamiliar, from the procedures to the responsibilities of the staff. However, as the day progressed, I became more comfortable through observation and guidance from the personnel.
I was introduced to the daily workflow of the laboratory, including how patient information and laboratory requests are handled carefully and systematically. I learned that accuracy, cleanliness, and organization are essential in this area because laboratory results play a crucial role in medical diagnosis and treatment. Even simple tasks require focus and attention to detail to avoid errors.
Throughout the day, I observed how staff members worked efficiently while maintaining professionalism and respect toward patients. This helped me understand the importance of discipline and teamwork in a healthcare setting. Although my tasks were limited on the first day, the experience allowed me to familiarize myself with the environment and expectations.
Overall, my first day taught me to be observant, patient, and eager to learn. Being assigned to the laboratory gave me a strong foundation for the rest of my immersion and prepared me for greater responsibilities in the following days.
