ARTICLE 5: DAY 2 - EXPOSURE TO PATIENT INTERACTION

On my second day, I was given more opportunities to interact with patients, which helped me develop my communication skills. At first, I felt hesitant to approach them because I was afraid of making mistakes. However, I soon realized that clear and respectful communication is essential in providing good service.

Many patients appeared anxious or confused while waiting for their laboratory procedures. By observing the staff, I learned how to speak calmly, listen attentively, and respond politely. These small actions helped patients feel more at ease. I also learned that patience is necessary, especially when dealing with individuals who may be experiencing stress or discomfort.

This experience taught me that communication is not just about giving instructions but also about showing empathy and understanding. Through constant interaction, I gradually became more confident in assisting patients and answering simple questions. I realized that effective communication helps build trust and improves the overall experience of patients in a healthcare setting.

By the end of the day, I felt more comfortable engaging with people and became aware of how important interpersonal skills are in the workplace. This day helped me understand that strong communication is a vital skill that I must continue to develop.
